Ceramic plungers can offer great advantages in displacement pumps used for pumping chemical, abrasive or corrosive media.
Ceramics are characterised by their extreme hardness combined with their high chemical resistance. Ceramic plungers can be used up to very high pressures of more than 6,000 bars.
PLUNGER FOR WATER JET CUTTING TECHNOLOGY
Ceramic product: Ceramic body Advantage: Due to the extreme compressive strength of ceramics, these plungers can be loaded up to 9,000 bars pressure without much deformation of the plungers. In addition, the surface of the ceramic plunger is very smooth, so a good seal can be realized that does not wear quickly.
PLUNGER FOR SLUDGE PUMP
Ceramic product: Ceramic plunger Advantage: When pumping sewage sludge, the plunger must be extremely wear-resistant to withstand the large amount of abrasive particles that are contained in the sludge. This wear-resistance is achieved by placing a ceramic liner onto the plunger.
NOZZLE FOR RESIDUAL OILS IN A SHIP'S ENGINE
Ceramic product: Nozzle of silicon nitride Advantage: Due to the high pressure, the chemically corrosive character of the oil and the hard particles in the oil, the nozzle is subjected to heavy loads. By making the nozzle out of ceramics, an extension of the service life is realized.
